Race nutrition fails for one of two reasons. You did not carry enough, or you carried something your stomach turned down at kilometre 32. Every pack below covers a full training block and a race day with LIVSTEADY, the slow release carbohydrate behind every UCAN product.
Zero sugar, no maltodextrin, and one serve that holds for 75 minutes instead of 30. Buy the pack rather than the pieces and you save up to 15 percent.
Two questions. We will point you at the right one.
Start here
Not sure? Take the smaller pack. LIVSTEADY behaves differently to a sugar gel and your gut needs two or three long runs to learn it, so nobody should race a format they have not trained on.
Pick by race
The fuelling job changes at every distance. A 10K is won on what you ate before the gun. A marathon is won on what you can still stomach at three hours.
Get it right
Nothing here should be new on race day. Every item below belongs in a long run first.
Order the pack and start running on it now. Your gut gets a full training block to adapt and you are not chasing stock the week of the race.
Run the exact race plan. Same timing, same flavour, same bottle. Two or three sessions is usually enough to know whether it sits well.
Lay out every sachet you are carrying and count them against your plan. Fill the bottle with Hydrate and put it in the fridge.
One serve of Energy Powder in 300ml of water. That covers the first 75 minutes, which is most of a half and the opening third of a marathon.
One Edge gel per hour from the 75 minute mark. Drink to thirst and keep sodium in the 300 to 600mg per hour range, higher on a humid Australian morning.
One Energy + Protein shake. Twenty grams of protein and fifteen of LIVSTEADY, which goes down far easier than solid food when you have just stopped.

One serve of Energy Powder 30 minutes before the start, then one Edge gel per hour from around the 75 minute mark, with 300 to 600mg of sodium per hour in your bottle. For a four hour marathon that works out at roughly three gels and three Hydrate serves. The Marathon Complete Bundle covers the training block as well as race day.
Far less than most runners carry. One serve before the gun covers the first 75 minutes, which for many people is most of the race. Add one gel around the 75 minute mark and electrolytes in the bottle if it is warm. The Half Marathon Pack is built to that plan.
At least six weeks out, and on every long run from then on. LIVSTEADY digests differently to a maltodextrin gel and your gut needs two or three sessions to settle into it. Race day is the worst possible time to find that out.
Look for low osmolality and no maltodextrin. LIVSTEADY is a large, slow releasing carbohydrate, so far fewer particles are pulling water into the gut. Runners moving across from high maltodextrin gels tend to report less sloshing and bloating late in a race. Start with the Trial Pack and test it over two long runs.
For most Australian race calendars, yes. Even the autumn and winter majors can run warm, and summer training is another matter entirely. Aim for 300 to 600mg of sodium per hour and adjust upward if you are a heavy or salty sweater. Hydrate carries 300mg per serve and Edge + Electrolyte carries 200mg per gel.
Yes. The Marathon Complete Bundle covers any effort of a similar duration, and plenty of triathletes and trail runners use it. See energy for triathlon for the discipline specific timing.
Fifteen percent against buying the same items individually. On the Marathon Complete Bundle that is $64.89. Orders over $220 also ship free anywhere in Australia.

- ELIZABETH J.One of the things I like the most is having UCAN bars after my workouts and long runs. I used to feel a crash a few hours afterwards and I don’t get that anymore with UCAN.
- Emily Sisson, OlympianWhat I love about UCAN is I am consuming little to no sugar, so my blood sugar levels remain stable rather than spiking and dropping. This is extremely beneficial as a CrossFit games athlete.
