How much sodium is in UCAN Hydrate?
300mg of sodium per serve in the jar and 300mg in the single-serve packets. Mixed with 500ml of water as directed, that works out to 600mg of sodium per litre of finished drink. That is higher than a standard sports drink and lower than a salt-forward hydration mix, which is the right place to sit if your carbohydrate is already coming from gels.
Which electrolytes are in UCAN Hydrate?
Five. Per serve you get 300mg of sodium, 150mg of chloride, 100mg of potassium, 50mg of magnesium and 15mg of calcium. Those are the minerals you lose through sweat, replaced in roughly the proportions you lose them.
Is UCAN Hydrate a zero calorie electrolyte drink?
Yes. Each 3g serve contains 0 kilojoules and 0 grams of sugar. The electrolytes are mineral salts and carry no energy, and it is sweetened with stevia. A litre of standard sports drink carries roughly 850 to 1,000 kilojoules by comparison, so if you are already taking gels there is nothing here to work around.
Does UCAN Hydrate contain artificial sweeteners?
No. UCAN Hydrate is sweetened with stevia extract, specifically Rebaudioside A. There is no sucralose, no acesulfame potassium, no aspartame and no artificial colours.
